Your eight answers
Where the score comes from.
Each scored answer contributes 1–5 points. Lower answers highlight a question to work through; a high total does not cancel an important gap.

How to read the score
- Under 16 out of 40: substantial preparation is indicated.
- 16–29 out of 40: there are preparation gaps to work through.
- 30–40 out of 40: a stronger starting point, provided individual gaps are resolved.
- Three or more answers at 1 trigger the method's “Not yet” score warning, whatever the total. Any answer at 1 needs attention.
These bands apply only to eight scored answers. The questions are simplified self-assessment prompts, not the full professional rubric. This check has not verified your documents or the nine conditions of sale and cannot confirm readiness to list or establish business value.

Using the tool
What does a business sale readiness check tell you?
This check uses simplified prompts about eight areas: owner dependence, earnings, premises, people, systems, customers, compliance and growth. Use it to choose questions and next actions before selling a New Zealand business. It cannot verify documents or establish that you are ready to list.
How is a professional review different?
The Sale-Readiness Review applies the full scoring rubric to supporting accounts and records, including owner-retention and concentration limits, supply transferability, and three years of trading plus current results. It also checks the nine conditions a sale depends on. Its go-to-market verdict needs that evidence; this free check cannot provide it. Read what the eight preparation areas cover, or use the 6–12 month preparation plan to think about timing.
